The importance of imagination based play

It is no secret that pretend play and make believe is widely recognised as an essential method of learning and development for young children.  By using their imaginations, children benefit hugely in developing their self-esteem and self-awareness.  The idea of role play gives children an opportunity to act out real life situations, essentially experimenting with social and emotional roles in life.

Through role play, children develop empathy and learn how to cooperate, collaborate and understand each other.  Most importantly it is FUN!

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

Albert Einstein
